With endless miles famous grass flats, oyster bars and mangrove shorelines available, we’re often fishing within 10 – 15 minutes from the launch area.
The inshore fishing grounds of Pine Island Sound, Matlacha, and the Caloosahatchee River are full of trophy species like Snook, Redfish, Sea Trout and a variety of other excellent targeted species.
Our bays are very shallow, with an average depth of about 2.5′. These waters are often very calm and on windy days, there are plenty of fantastic fishing grounds available in protected lagoons and bays. Many anglers love the inshore trips for the variety of species and frequent wildlife sightings during the trip.
The most common way to fish in the Back Bays of Southwest Florida is live baits. Scaled Sardines also are known as greenies or whitebait are the preferred baitfish when targeting snook, redfish, and trout. We fish these baits live on our premium light tackle fishing gear. Live bait fishing is perfect for the experienced or novice angler, as the bait does most of the work for you.
We also include lures into our charters, often small soft plastics or topwater plugs may be used at times during our charters. Strikes from fish on these lures are legendary. Lure fishing requires a bit of casting and retrieve skill, which we’re happy to teach you while fishing!
Many of our inshore species are catch and release at certain times during the season, make sure to check with Capt. Andy before your trip if you’d like to target a species that can be kept for dinner. Most often, this will be the aggressive Sea Trout, Sheepshead or Mangrove Snapper. We do not keep or kill snook on any of our charters.
